I'm 19 years old, about seventeen of which I have spent living in the shadow of this incredible city. This suffices only to make it entertaining for me to speak to people who have never been east of the east river. Especially those who employ the phrase 'valley girls' in describing Long Islanders when there are, in fact, no valleys to speak of. I was born in Georgia, which was cool; and attended kindergarten in Missouri, which was not. I work a reasonably unpleasant job that just barely enables me to go clubbing all weekend and still put away just enough money to keep mommy from complaining that I'm wasting my life. Future plans I have none - I'm really just floating along til I see what comes up. As for what I do when I'm not at work; I promote a very spiffy but as yet underappreciated goth/industrial/new/dark wave Sunday night in Levittown called Sphere. And most of the rest of the time I'm to be found within a short sprint of my computer. Have we come to the paragraph about music yet? Okay. Good... My taste is quite eclectic, though nowhere near reflected in my music collection. (In short, I'm po'). Among my latest current-favorite-pet bands are Datura, VNV Nation, October Project (I didn't say the BANDS were new), Voltaire... but I'm still in love with the songs I heard so often when I first started clubbing just 17 incredibly LONG months ago... The Cruxshadows, Real Life, The Sisters of Mercy, Wolfsheim, The Cure, Concrete Blonde, Pet Shop Boys, When in Rome, Beborn Beton, Rammstein, Peter Murphy, Siouxie, Switchblade Symphony, etc. And upon investigating in my room, you'd find plenty of things which might just be best unnamed on this list - but too bad! Life would just be *too* goth without my daily dose of Ani Difranco, Arlo Guthrie, the Beatles, the Beastie Boys, Eminem, Atari Teenage Riot, Tori Amos, the Eels, Queensryche, Rush, aah you get it already. The other terribly un-gothic secret I have is that I'm a socialist activist in my down time, and a (totally inactive) member of the Young People's Socialist League. I'm currently petitioning to put a socialist candidate for president, David McReynolds, on the New York ballot. And in case you're wondering, my radical activities are limited to eating french fries in pubs in the village with overly political twenty-somethings, and talking often loudly about the Daily Show, Tom Green, why New York State election laws are Draconian, how much it must suck to be a goth kid in Seattle, and other obviously revolutionary-terrorist-cultist topics. Other things that make me happy are eggs over-medium, french vanilla coffee, Candyland, Quake, Rainbow Brite, the X Files, anything purple, Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Mr. Bubble, all things Tim Burton, water - be it a glass or an ocean, white musk body fantasy, sex on the beach (the drink you pervert), Blackhaus, total unreserved honesty, random text generators (so sue me!), and eating boxes of little entenmann's chocolate chip cookies while walking around Kissena park while very, very stoned.. I used to be all over the goth scene, but due to poverty I'm barely and rarely to be found anymore. Hopefully I'll find a better job that pays more than six bucks an hour, and I'll be back. That's a threat and a promise. So if anybody wants to start makin with the entry level html positions (or just giving me lots of money) they'll be *greatly* rewarded by seeing my pie-eyed little self around town. ;) Dancing off to find something interesting and unique and new... or perhaps just a snapple and a nap...
