From: ReVeLinSIN@aol.com Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 20:03:12 EDT Subject: insert clever subject line here [intro - semi-long] To: NYCgoth-L@necronomi.com What with the recent splurge in intros and re-intros (and re-re-intros, give or take), I've decided, probably to the chagrin of all of you - [read: "damn it all, not a-bloody-nother one!"], to peek out of my over a year long lurking shell ever so briefly to wallow in the oohs and ahhs of self-absorbed babble. I have a bit of a problem with parenthesis, you'll notice. Bear with me, this could get long. So, the basics. My name's Danyell (sorry, no fancy and sho' shpookay alias' [1]), I live in Bensonhurst - Brooklyn, born and raised - and I'm the wee tender age of 18 (Gemini, Leo rising, for all the other astrology freaks out there). I graduated City-As HS in February (after a horrific freshman/sophmore period of two years at Shawshank...er, Brooklyn Tech), was on brief hiatus in the hellish tropics of No Name Suburbia, Florida for the duration of March and April and have since been working for slave wages at Toys R Us as a means to support my preparative alcoholism and addiction to clubbing while I try to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I've been out and about around the scene since I was around 15 - a fake ID is indeed a many splendored thing - and could usually be found then at The Bank (surprise, surprise). Currently, I usually haunt Albion and Absolution, although I'm looking forward to eventually checking out Interzone, Addiction and The Headless Waltz. Other basics: I'm of Irish/Italian descent, 5'11" sans boots, and of a rather...intimidating build >clears throat<. I have long black hair (about 3/4 of the way down my back) , brown eyes, and a slightly olive skin tone that no amount of make-up could conceivably cover without me coming off looking like an estranged member of the Insane Clown Posse. My clothes tend to lean toward...on second thought, they don't lean toward anything. I sample the many facets of goth style: Victorian, Edwardian, fetish (when I'm feeling especially venturous), and so on and so forth. The only non-variable is the color - yes, you guessed it, black. (again, surprise, surprise) Pandemonium & Media (multi and other): Musically, I want to say I have eclectic tastes, but I'm cha-cha-cha'ing on the line of one too many cliche's as it is, so I'll just say my taste is...well-rounded. Some favorites include the almost goes without saying - The Cure (for whomever mentioned they have a soft-spot for WMS, you're not alone *ducks as well*) , Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy (sans Vision Thing..all I have to say is...HUH?), and Bauhaus, along with The Cruxshadows, Wolfsheim, Faith & The Muse, Dead Can Dance, Tori Amos, Mesh, Danny Elfman, Cranes, Jefferson Airplane, Voltaire, Ani DiFranco, Liz Phair, Toy Dolls, Dead Kennedys, Pink Floyd, Clan of Xymox, Fictional (and side project Ravenous - I'm looking for absolutely anything by them, if someone could help me out, it'd be -much- appreciated), Beborn Beton, Siouxsie...I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Movies: absolutely anything by Tim Burton, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hurly Burly, A Clockwork Orange, The Princess Bride, Labyrinth (David Bowie in spandex....drool), The Ref, Clerks, The Breakfast Club, Star Wars (the trilogy - Episode One was almost offensive), Velvet Goldmine...and so on and so forth. I might also mention I'm a bit of a comedy fanatic. I'm obsessed with the British improv show Whose Line is It Anyway? (the new Americanized version on ABC Thursdays pales mightily in comparison). A few comics that I practically emulate: Dennis Leary, Eddie Izzard, Greg Proops (September 1st at Caroline's...have I died and gone to the promised land?), Janene Garafolo, Jim Sweeney, Paul Merton and Tony Slattery...to name a few. Well, this has gone on longer than I intended. To those that are still awake, that's me in a nutshell - an appropriate receptacle. I'm not entirely sure how much I'll have to contribute to the threads, but at least I have the big scary intro out of the way. Au revoirs and marmosets danyell "Words are loaded pistols. You use them at your peril." - Tony Slattery http://seduced.to/nosalvation ICQ#: 74990641 [1] No offense meant at all the people who have chosen other, perhaps more suitable, names for themselves or have had said names chosen for them. I'm well-aware about how some things just have a tendency to stick.
