I enterd NYC many and some years ago and dove headfirst into the city as I saw fit. I started out at the old but not quite forgotten night at the Wreck Room ( aka Smash Bar ) , and worked door for Keli Graves. This is where I met many many amazing people - some of which are here on this list. From there I helped run a few odd nights, with the goal of eventually DJing. Then one day in early spring, the moment came, I walked up to the tables, with a pair of cd players I patched togetehr with duct-tape and eyeliner, and my first bits of music were thrown out into the world. I sucked. It took alot to admit that , but after my first three or four tries I decided that I needed to call on a higher power. So I went out drinking. One amazing night I was part of a group of people who went to Mother... to see a performance by Voltaire. It was a night to change my life forever. * Insert dramatic music *. I met so many people, and heard so much new music ( to me, that is ) that , oh what the hell, " A great dark hand touched me and I was transformed ! ". Heh. Actually I met the likes of Ian Ford, Jason , the until recently St. James, all DJs who in their own way gave me advice and pointers and over time I improved to the point where people would stop throwing things at me. Over time I started to play at various clubs, Alchemy, and other functions. It was about this time that I first joined the list. Shortly thereafter I was asked to come aboard LBV. This is where I made my home for jsut about a year. It was there that under the guidance of the Mother staff that I developed my own sense of playing, and on my own injected the people there with music they had / had not heard / had no clue about. The rumours of a conga line of goths dancing to " Jump in the line " are part of this. ( Oh yesm it really happened, and I managed to mix ' The Twist ' into " the Time Warp '. Life was good. About this time I also took no small interest in the vampire scene ( my dad gave me my first copy of lestat aeons ago ) , and participated in John Bardys LARP , and other events. However, I should point out that while recreationally I partake in the vampire scene, my heart and soul has always been in the gothic. My father was a classical organist - can you imagine a young iompressionable me at the tender age of 10 sittin on the floor of a church in front of a 32 rank pipe organ hearing Bach, Mozart, et all... I was completely won over. Over the years my father and I would go on business trips ( family owned business ) and he would track down pipe organs where he could, and talk to the owners/caretakers/etc... and they more often than not would let him play. Hours upon hours. If I had only known then... I left LBV after a rather nasty screw job done to me by the promoter. None the less, I continued to DJ around the city, and at some private parties. Currently I'm playing on and off at Elysium in Brooklyn, and when my work schedule permits, at other events like Absolution, Alchemy, and my soon to be starting web radio show. In the short time I have been around, I have compiled a collection of 2000 cd's , helped Voltaire get his first website up, DJed approximately 539 hours, consumed 436 shots of jager, appeared in " oh my goth ", and I am frequently mistaken for Vermillion in " Gloom cookie ". ( a great goth comic read. Really. ) blah blah blah Neil Gaiman, Blah blah blah bahaus , blah blah blade runner, insert all teh standard stuff here. Though I did meet Gaiman once. Great guy.
