From: Subject: Did somebody say re-intro??? To: NYCgoth-L@necronomi.com Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 14:50:05 -0400 [NB: part of this is plagarized from the intro I just posted to motherlovenyc, basically cause I just don't have the energy anymore...] ... For those who don't know me, my name is Kathy, and I'm your typical 30-year-old, poly-bi-pagan-leather-geek-glam-goth-grrl ... You might have run into me at Click & Drag, Byzantium, Interzone, Near Dawn or occasionally at Long Black Veil (*very* occasionally, sad to say, since I also work 9-5 at a frighteningly large bank). I have long strawberry-blonde hair and vaguely Malcolm-X-ish glasses, and I'm about 5'6", size 14. Some people I've been told I look like: Janis Joplin (minus the heroin, sorry); Claire Danes (after she ate a bunch of Krispy Kremes, I suppose); and this gal Tara who used to live in Jamaica Plain. ;) Oh, and if you noticed me in the company of a six-foot-tall bald dude wearing a silver shirt and eyeliner, that would be Kevin... erstwhile Byzantium tarot card reader, as well as my partner in life and play, and your fellow listmember. It is NOT "the guy from the Smashing Pumpkins", so now you won't need to ask. Thank you. [Doesn't anybody know that Billy Corgan has a birthmark on his right arm? Sheeez...] As you may have guessed from the above remark, I listen to a lot of music that's not Gothically Correct (tm) but could nevertheless be described as (to quote a former roommate) "trendy college-kid music". I'm really, really trying to expand my horizons to include more jazz/classical/avant-garde/whatevah, but the most I've been able to wrap my mind around is some Anonymous 4, and a couple of Kronos Quartet compilations [I'm a bear of very little musical brain, so shoot me]. In the meantime, my CD collection could almost all be filed under "Reagan/Bush-Era Industrial"; "Pretentious Indie Kids"; "Electronica/Trance/Progressive-House/Music to Get Dehydrated To"; and/or "David Bowie and his Descendants"... Last three books read: Jack Black, _You Can't Win_; Jeremy Reed, _Angels, Divas and Blacklisted Heroes_; Jean Baudrillard, _Seduction_ . It sure would be nice if I were able to read on moving trains (but you don't need another sick passenger in your morning commute, do you???) When I'm not clubbing or working, you might find me: cruising outer-boro thrift shops and rummage sales; volunteering at Housing Works Used Books or at a community garden; making stained-glass lightbulbs, gilded cows and other crafty little things; or just objectifying naked yuppie chicks at the gym. ;) Oh, and I'm working on the obligatory book-length vampire fiction, but so is everyone else on this list, so I won't go into it here. Shout out to Alysa, Alexia, Kate, Heather, Tammy, Ed, Rachellll, Topaz and Lollipop. Any further questions can be directed to the above email address, or to latzoni@teenagewildlife.com ... Yr obt svt, Kathy L.
