X-Sender: psychick@postoffice.ptd.net (Unverified) Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 21:26:58 -0400 To: NYCgoth-L@necronomi.com From: hyperdelic Subject: onioncat "some people are like onion cats. not just nine lives but endless layers enclosed within bones brains and skin. you meet them in one context and it's hard to imagine a life outside the discipline or action in which you interact. they drop hints though, or make little comments of experiential wells that you've never plumbed. if you dig, perhaps they tell you more but, then you just realize that there probably is no bottom, that this person has condensed dog years to a human scale. has done a million disparate things and they are all interesting. a well lived life. a fully lived life. and it's still happening and will continue to for a long, long time." alright...it's been a while since the last time i did this and it's been a while since i've posted anything at all to this list...so, now, under the law of the iron clawses...here goes: note: if by chance anyone was to recall the last time i intro'd myself to this list, i'm kind of using the same format...oh well. i recently moved to new jersey. i recently started working in new york. i used to organize ink on the printed page, now i'm going to help make the ink that someone else will organize. and even though i have always avoided color, it looks like my life is taking a turn in a colorful direction (at least from a career standpoint). i like music, a lot. i can leave it at that or i could go on making a list of all the stuff i really like and try and drop names to impress someone but, why bother? even though this city is filled with noisey things, i wish it was filled with clubs that were a little more reflective of that. i like things that are sweet and things with a lot of caffeine. i like things with artificial flavors and artificial colors, especially blue. oh wait, i just stated that i have always avoided color. did i mention i like contradictions? i like contrast and i like irony. i like sarcasm and i like to play the elitist...maybe that's why i also like to wear military uniforms. i like things that are silver and i like things that are orange (even though most of the time you wouldn't see those things on the outside). i like high leather boots and i like steel toes. of course i also like black things and neutral and natural colored things. i can sometimes have parts that i have to hide so that not everyone can see them... i'm not big on the club thing, mostly because i'm too picky about what i'll hear and figure i can get drunk at home for a lot less money. i like art...surrealism, dada, fluxus...not just as movements but as lifestyles. i like things like bridges and highways and huge concrete structures with nice curves and flowing lines. i like architecture that reflects the landscape and on the other hand i like architecture that does a good job looking like it's completely out of place. i like reflected light and hate flourescent light. i like goggles and masks and things that can help you die slower during a chemical/biological attack. i like bubble gum ice cream and i'm ecstatic to have found somewhere that makes it with the little pieces of gum in it. i was a dj at byzantium (twice) and wouldn't mind toying with that role again in the future (now that i don't have to drive 2 hours to get there). i like watching people try to dance to boyd rice. i like boyd rice (damn, is that name-dropping covered under my bit about musical tastes or does he not count because some call him more than a musician?) i like to read about the history of war and collect military memorabilia from those eras (especially the second world war). so, enough about me...i'm going to get back to my reprogramming cycles as scheduled... -- - psychick@ptd.net . icq - 7601958 . aim - bodyhater - they were gentlemen who came and went, who supervised and were relaxed, sometimes smiling, sometimes joking, but never unhappy.
