You pick whichever one appeals to you, its all the same to me. History. I transplanted here from from Washington D.C. 2 years ago and have been keeping a low profile since. When I hung out in D.C. it was with a large group of freaks (120+) that ran the gamut from goth, hippie-goth, industrial, punk to techno, SCA, ren-fest, Con types. This lovely group regularly did things organized by several of our more established members such as Freak Day at Kings Dominion, Freak Day at the Zoo, you get the idea. We even had T-Shirts to commorate most of these events along with the normal Barney must die T-Shirts. It was always quite a blast having about 70 entirely wacked out, black clad, freaks descend on a family friendly place such as King Dominion. The families would shy away clasping their children tightly to their chests....ah those were the days. But this is now. Where do you spend your days? I work in the Chrysler Building and pretty much took the job because it would allow me to walk thru the hall of this amazing building everyday. Love that art deco. I am an events planner, which means I pretty much get paid to create workshops, seminars and wonderful parties every day, ie get paid to have fun. this is of course a totally different field than my major in college which was 3-D animation and design (think Pixar stuff). For the most part I tend to sit in my house and read, sew, draw, paint, and otherwise be pretty quiet. I spent the years from 1988 to 1996 5 days a week, including the afterhours spots in clubs and bars doing things that don't allow me to remember most of what I did except in fuzzy flashes. So I was being still for a bit. But now I feel the desire to be social again, so well here I am. I dress, hmmm, well like an executive during the day. Black is still the dominant color in my wardrobe and I own a million and one combinations of both business and casual in this fabulous, does not show dirt, color. Black comes in such a wonderful array of fabrics, textures, rubber, pvc.... My hair is long and terribly curly in ringlets that are natural (yes it is my own, no not a perm, yes you may boing a curl), I have hazel eyes that change color when I'm mad to a deep olive grey and freckels, all of which allows me at 29 to look about 21. Sigh, perpetually cute, or something like that. As for music. My tastes range beyond far and wide with everything from the standard goth credo of Dead Can Dance, His Name is Alive, This Mortal Coil, to New Model Army, My life with the Thrill Kill Cult, FrontLine Assembly, Tool (pure addiction), to classic Jazz (Bill Evans, Miles Davis), a touch of Enya, Classic rock, synth, pop....... That said it is music in the key of C Minor that makes me feel at my best, which is usually rather Bi-Polar on most days. I read. Alot. Almost anything scifi, a bit of fantasy, modern parables and award winners (The Interpreter of Maladies, Pulitzer Prize Winner), childrens books (Harry Potter and Weitze Bat), New Yorker Magazine, Business Week, Fortune, Fitness (I work out what an adreniline rush) cereal boxes, subway maps, everything. I feel awfully fidgety if I don't have something to read with me. Films-Too many to note. In other words, I am an information whore. So much more to say, but then you can ask me if you want to know more. I'm going to try and make it to the picnic this Sunday. Hope to meet some of you there. Niki
