From: AngellllOfHarlem@aol.com Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 23:17:23 EDT Subject: everybody else is doing it... To: NYCgoth-L@necronomi.com Okay, I'm not really the re-intro type, but after a shout-out from Kathy and a very personal ::cough:: "invitation" from the list-mods, I suppose I should. I used to post under the name rak46@columbia.edu. That was to avoid the stigma of being thought slow because I use AOL. But the truth is, I've had AOL since I was 12 years old, and am fairly devoted. I attend Columbia University (the logical next step to having an e-mail address from there). I grew up in Philadelphia. I love cooking. In fact, my friends have decided I'm Martha Stewart. Jeeze, you make a few meals with homemade potato chips, a primi of angelhair pasta with Italian herbs, a pot roast, bagettes, and homemade brownies from scratch and you get branded for life. I got into the Goth scene in high school, I'm not really sure why. I like the clothing. I like the people. I like a lot of the aspects of it, and the clubs were really fun. I tried to be one of those goth-chicks-turned-rivet, but after the Funkervogt show last Saturday, I realized that I'm just too small and too meek to ever be a true industrial girl. Even with all of my friends protecting me, I was nearly wounded. So, now I'm leaning more towards Fetish events. I like the Sunday nights at Nouvelle Justine. I haven't made it to a Xorvia yet, but my clothing has. At the last one (while I was elsewhere), the cute little red plaid *authentic* catholic schoolgirl kilt belonged to me (but was not on me). Yep, I went to Catholic school.... and I saved the uniform I'm hoping to attend the Beach Ball, since I know Flambeaux, but have yet to see his show, which sounds incredible. My favorite color is blue. My favorite number is 12. My favorite letter is "L." Yes, I do feel like an episode of Sesame Street sometimes. My favorite animals include cats, harp seals, red pandas, lizards and pug dogs. I'm obsessed with pugs, in fact. They don't bark, they snort! Other interests of mine include polyamory, though I think that might be in remission. I think it's a really good idea, but I'm learning that it was more of a stop on my journey, rather than my final destination. I know this, because I recently met said final destination, and am still in that euphoric state of finally having found what I was looking for (eeeew, she mis-quotes U2... even with a screenname like that!) A little about the screenname. I have a 4-Ls obsession. Many reasons. No, I'm not revealing them. Anyone who's chatted with me online, knows I have other 4-L screennames. I don't have much to say about music. I'm crazy about Tori Amos. I have eclectic tastes, and I don't pay the closest of attention to what I'm listening to. If anyone actually read this, I'm extremely impressed. If you read my previous intro as well, I'm even more impressed. If you can cross-reference the two, well, it's time to destroy your little Rachel shrine and move on :-) This'll probably be my last post in a while. See you around! -Rachel p.s. I'm not planning on founding a Doomsday cult, but if I were I would want to check out this website: http://www.blackplague.org/cult
