From: "Nebelhexa" To: Subject: intro-itus Date: Thu, 20 Jul 2000 18:12:14 -0700 X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Importance: Normal (apologies for the fairly vulgar subject title; i've got finals-brain and i can't seem to think of anything halfway witty) hi. my name is Avitania, though most everyone calls me tania (though i spell it tanYa for a rather boring reason)... i'm 22, currently in Tampa, FL - home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and not much else, really. i've been on and off this list for the lesser part of 4 years, though i used to be more active when i lived in New York during my first year of college. these days i generally lurk here for information, since my husband and i travel to NYC at least once a year - mainly to get my fix of something other than Hicksville, USA. i'm in the process of trying to convince him to move to NYC so i can do my grad work at NYU, but there are issues that are preventing that, and i'll move on to talking about myself further without going into that mess. anyway, i'm a full-time student at the University of South Florida, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in MIS; when i'm not scurrying around campus, i'm scurrying around the Tampa Bay Red Cross, where i'm a systems support monkey. (read: i find people's Office Toolbars, maintain their database, and occassionally dust their mice.) i exaggerate, though - i do a lot more, and there are interesting perks. i'm even learning how to use a Defibrillator. (which, i suppose, is very useful if someone goes into cardiac arrest around me and i just happen to have an AED handy.) i got into the goth scene through an interest in BDSM - for me, i think my interest in goth has been more about the aesthetic than about the music, though i do love a bit of the music too. although i did my fair share of clubbing in my younger youth, these days i'm just as happy going to a bar or dining out with friends. my musical tastes are extremely varied - from electro-industrial to indie/riotgrrrl post-punk to latin jazz. though i've been on a Funker Vogt kick from seeing them this past Sunday. my absolute favorite band is Sleater-Kinney. i'm crossing my fingers to see ApB in NYC rather than here in Tampon. i went to go see Bauhaus and Macarena'd in the back row. i'm interested in Asian-American history, media theory, and fiction of all sorts. i also cannot stop hording cosmetics/wigs/clothes. i am a perennial girly-girl. since that's probably more than any of you cared to know, i'll go back to lurking and burping every once in awhile. :) -tanya nebelhexa@non-sequitur.org www.non-sequitur.org "an uncut stone is flawed and beautiful don't try to size me down to fit your tiny hands" - Sleater-Kinney
