Our Principal Contributors

Clifford
Hartleigh
Low:

Occult scholar, club promoter, satirist, webmaster, bibliophile, DJ, and sculptor— he's one of the most resourceful, controversial, and omnipresent personalities of the NYC Gothic Industrial scene. On a broader scale, he has earned worldwide prominence as a creator and patron of numerous online resources dealing with the arcane and the bizarre. NYCGOTH.COM is his most ambitious Internet project to date, involving nearly two years of work. Homepage

Kurt
Komoda:

Often to be found sketching furiously beneath the staircase at The Bank, he is a well-known graphic artist in the horror and comics convention circuit. Kurt displays his passion for the Gothic Aesthetic by providing the thematic illustrations which decorate every major section of this site. Homepage

Joan
Rachel
Dennis:

One of the hardest workers on this website, she is a retail savant, having worked at The Sock Man and lived near St. Marks lengthily. She is currently attending the New School, to learn the fine art of horror fiction. She is a fanatical collector of toys, comics, and dark juvenalia.

Rachel
Kleinman:

One of the Batcave's most recognizable faces, Rachel is our principal photographer— responsible for the most of our Gallery section. An all-out Industrial fan, she can be found at various Mother events.

Mikaela
Pearson:

The principal author of our guide to bars/saloons, and resident expert on elixirs divine. She is the lead singer of Spiderlilly, an experimental/ethereal band. Mikaela is also a Wiccan High Priestess, currently serving as maiden to The Circle of Ara. Homepage

Kerry
Smith:

Outspoken composer and performer in several musical projects including Piece Machine, Kerry has provided great insights to the workings of our city's club venues and events for our Club Guide. He may often be found at various Mother events. Homepage

Kevin
Filan:

One of the most scholarly and controversial figures in black magic, Kevin contributed large quantities of our Authors/Reading Guide section. Homepage

Heather
Babb:

Born a few centuries too late, this contributor spends much of her free time studying antiquities and is our resident savant of museums and parks. You'll often find her in at Click + Drag in one of her countless corsets.

Charles
Burns:

A former archaeologist with broad interests, he is New York's premiere Death Rock DJ, currently spinning at Murder. Homepage

Risa
Wolf:

A talented photographer and contributor to our Gallery section, Risa spends most of her time prowling (it is an activity unto itself— accept it) and repairing networks as a well-paid corporate consultant. Homepage

Bill
Mackey:

His boy-next-door demeanor conceals a darkly perverted soul. Bill contributed many excellent photographs for this website, and is a Click + Drag regular.

Others:

Deepest thanks and appreciation to Shumit Basu, Kit Messick, Tyagi Mordred Nagasiva, Shanti Fader, Brian Christgau, Emily Rees, Daniel Feldspath, Ron Garcia-Vidal, Laura McCutchan, Desiree Krauss, and others who provided articles for this site; and all of our models who worked very hard to beautify this labor of love.
