This Site

This site was first contemplated in the Fall of 1996 by Clifford Hartleigh Low as a web extension of "the Gothlist"; also known as NYCgoth-L. Work began in earnest in the early Summer of 1997, and despite countless setbacks and delays, it opened its doors on Halloween of 1998. During this development time, it has collected together the work of many of the most talented minds on the NYC Gothic and Industrial scenes. At last count, this site was consisted of 196 original content web pages with 854 graphics. Over the coming year, it is expected that the level of content on this site will triple.

The purpose of NYCGOTH.COM is to provide a guide to the darker scenes of New York City; a Fodors Guide for nocturnal black-clad deviants. New York City is such a large place, that even a dedicated clubcrawler and shopper might concievably overlook any number of splendid delights. There is such a splendid diversity of dark resources available in Manhattan that even during the length of this site's development we could not find it all— but rest assured, we will.

Rather than a sparsity of macabre and deviant resources much like the rest of the world, New York's shortcoming is that a great deal of it is obscure. Recognizing this, we help promote talented artists and artisans who otherwise might get much less exposure. Consequently, this site will expand further into the realms of original content as time goes on; fiction, artwork, and so on.

This site has received new visitors since Halloween 1998, new visitors today, and page hits overall since 11/6/98.
