One of the fixtures on St. Mark's Place is the Sockman, with the huge outside display of socks and bright pink awning. It's almost as if the store was delivered with the street sign, and the dedicated customers are glad for it.

Home of the largest selection of socks and tights (at some of the best prices) in NYC, The Sockman is as much an oddity as a resource. The walls are hung with every colour, style, and size of hosiery fathomable. Looking for socks with fornicating animals? Look no further. Want a pair of tights with the devil on them? No problem. It's just that sort of a store.

The Sockman has all sorts of tights and socks (black is always in stock!), as well as men's and women's underwear, velvet pants, fishnet tops, PVC skirts and accessories, and a whole lot more. The $5 fishnets are probably one of the best deals in town, and the store stays open late for emergency runs.

The owner is often present, and he, along with the staff, is willing to go the extra mile and check the stock for sizes that aren't on the wall. This, coupled with the incredibly diverse stock, makes The Sockman one of the most pleasant stops in NYC.
