February 2nd

I've been working steadily on the NYCGOTH.COM site, and there have been a number of cool developments:

  1. The Java Chat Lounge: You can access it directly at CHAT.NYCGOTH.COM or by telnetting to the same address at port 7000. If you go into the other rooms you're likely to find your counterparts from other regions, such as Atlanta and Los Angeles.

  2. The Calendar: It now lists the weekly events, as well as performances and intermittent events. Located at http://www.nycgoth.com/calendar/.

  3. Simple Feedback: Virtually every entry now has a link to the Feedback Page, so that everyone can help keep the website current and accurate with a minimum of fuss.

  4. Visitor Frenzy: Since opening, NYCGOTH.COM has received over twenty three thousand visitors, collectively making one hundred and thirty three thousand hits. The logs indicate that the website receives two hundred and fifty new visitors every single day, on average. Woo-hoo! Keep up with this via the About This Site page!

  5. Sponsorship: We are currently sponsoring The Dark Side of the Web at its new location at <http://www.darklinks.com/darkweb.html>. TDSotW is the Yahoo of the Darkside, and an essential resource that should be linked on everybody's homepage.

Song of the Week:
"Ad Mortem Festinamus"
performed by QNTAL.

Scribere proposui de contemptu mundano
I write here of the cruelty of existence
ut degentes seculi non mulcentur in vano.
else the time will pass in vain.
Iam est hora sugere a sompno mortis pravo.
It is the hour when we awaken in the face of death.

Vita brevis breviter in brevi finietur--
Life is short and soon will end--
mors venit velociter quae neminem veretur
death comes faster than you'd believe.
Omnia mors perimit et nulli miseritur.
It destroys all, and is without any mercy.

AD MORTEM FESTINAMUS
PECCARE DESISTAMUS!
   WITH DEATH WE DANCE
DON'T WANT TO TRESSPASS ANY MORE!

Ni conversus fueris et sicut puer factus
If you don't become as innocent as a child
et vitam mutaveris in meliores actus
   and change your life joyfully
intrare non poteris regnum Dei beatus.
you will not be admitted into the Kingdom of God.

Tuba cum sonuerit dies erit extrema.
When the trumpet sounds doomsday has come.
Et iudex advenerit vocabit sempiterna
   The judge appears and calls
electus in patria, prescitos ad inferna.
the chosen to his Kingdom, the damned to Hell.

AD MORTEM FESTINAMUS
PECCARE DESISTAMUS!
   WITH DEATH WE DANCE
DON'T WANT TO TRESSPASS ANY MORE!
